Come see us! Meet our loons, eagles, fireflies, and white swan, or take a paddle in our rowboat (the “Good Ship Lollipop”). Life is slower in this corner of the world, and we’re glad. You won’t find traffic jams here, except those that involve animals. (Moose, bear, and elk have the right-of-way. And unicorns.) Nor will you find a television or a telephone. (We do have a clock on the wall, but we took the batteries out.)
Cead Mile Faitle!“A Hundred Thousand Welcomes,” in the Irish tongue
P.S. And if you’ve never waded beneath a waterfall (we have dozens!), you’re in for a real treat!

It is a magical feeling to be on a sailboat in between a setting sun and a full moon rising simultaneously.
Two deer swimming between islands in Lake Superior (Bear do this too; it’s amazing to see!)
My favorite Lake Superior lighthouse, Split Rock
Lake Superior’s rocky ridges include impressive canyons you can hike to. The above photo is of a 600-foot suspension bridge between canyon walls.
There’s nothing quite like taking your morning shower beneath a waterfall. This waterfall is a 55-minute kayak ride from our cottage door. It is accessible only by traveling a rivery route and then walking a final stretch.
My sister-in-law, Jeannie, joined me for a kayak ride and a swim.
Exploring Lake Superior’s Ice Caves in Bayfield, Wisconsin and Eben, Michigan
A day of hiking to frozen waterfalls with my friend, Christine
A sunset walk on a Lake Superior beach with my friend, Laurie. Entire trees and pieces of shipwrecks wash ashore here. A wooden teepee was constructed from driftwood debris by earlier walkers.
Lake Superior looked as if flaming waves were washing ashore on this particular evening because of how the sunlight was illuminating the cresting waves in an unusual way.
My favorite Lake Superior lighthouse to sleep in is located in Two Harbors. (Oh, and by the way, it’s haunted.)
Gone mushing with our children and grandchildren
A family gondola ride to the top of Lake Superior’s Lutsen Mountains
Gorge Falls, one of my favorite waterfalls to hike to
Bond Falls, another favorite
Family outing. Exploring one of Lake Superior's many mines.
Adults rappelled into the lower caverns of the mine.
Guided tour. All ages.

Movie night on the porch. Our outdoor theater. An old bedsheet for a screen.
